Teachers Have 3 More Days to Apply for TSC Promotion in June

The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has given teachers an extra week also known TSC promotions application deadlines to put in their applications for advancement.

TSC Application Deadlines for Promotions

According to the Commission, the deadline for the promotions application was June 9, but it has been moved to June 15 because it didn’t get enough people to apply the first two times.

TSC wants to promote more than 14,000 teachers, even though it says that thousands of schools still don’t have heads or deputies because teachers haven’t applied for open jobs.

“The Commission tries to make sure that teachers get promotions as a way to recognise and reward their hard work and performance, set them up for succession management or career advancement, and encourage them to do a better job with their duties and obligations. This is meant to make teaching and learning better, the TSC said in a release.

TSC told teachers that they should apply for these jobs because it is their job to find managers for public educational institutions so that they can run well.

How many teachers need to be promoted?

The Commission first put up ads for 14,738 teacher promotions in January. These positions included chief principals, principals, deputy principals, headteachers, deputy headteachers, senior masters, and senior teachers, as well as Special Needs Education (SNE) positions to fill empty positions and institutional administrators.

But after the second ad, there is still a difference of 1,001 jobs that the Commission wants to fill.

For example, out of the 7,720 regular primary school deputy headteacher jobs posted in the first round, the Commission only heard back about 5,152 of them. This means that 2,568 jobs are still open.

For the second round of ads, 1,581 more teachers applied for raises, which was 987 more than the first round.

“The Commission has again added seven more days, from June 9 to 15, so that more applications can be made,” the Commission said.
