50 students who excelled in the recent released Kenya Certificates of Secondary Education (KCSE) will be smiling all the way to the bank after securing immediate employment.
KCB foundation acting Chief of Party Caroline Wanjeri confirmed that the students had secured a 3-month employment at Kenya Commercial Bank (KCB).
The 50 are part of the 200 students from the foundation who scored C+ and above and secured direct admission to universities.
The employment is under the bank’s apprentice programme that is aimed at giving the students a workplace feel before they join the university.

The students scored A (Plain) and A- (minus) and cumulatively rose the mean grade of KCB foundation to B (plain).
Wanjeri confirmed that the students who achieved minimum university entry grade were 90 per cent of the entire cohort that sat for the 2020 national examinations.
Allan Udoma Wasonga from Agoro Sare High School in Oyugis emerged the top student from the foundation and was the second top nationally after scoring 87.173 points.
The 50 students are the first group to secure employment immediately after high school and the bank intends to continue offering upcoming top performers employment.
Other top performers from the foundation include;
- Brian Otango from Friends’ School Kamusinga (A)
- Pareyio Pion from Alliance high school (A).
- Mutua Patriciah Nzila from Moi Girls High School Eldoret (A-)
- Dennis Odhiambo from Kisii High (A-)
- Victor Onyango Orende from Maranda High School (A-).
The KCB Foundation provides secondary education scholarships for bright but needy students.
The program targets 240 beneficiaries every year and students benefit from a scholarship for the 4 years of secondary education.
