A Kenya certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) candidate was on Monday, March 22, found dead in Bomet county, under circumstances suspected to be suicide.

The 26-year-old student was to retake his KCSE exams beginning Friday, March 26, which is the start date for the nationwide examinations.

Police said that the body was found dangling from a tree inside his parent’s homestead, an incident that has left the village in shock.

Reports indicated that this was the second time the man had been re-admitted at the Keroncho secondary school to resit KCSE exams – after an earlier attempt years before.

Police said that the student had attempted to commit suicide on Saturday, March 21, but was rescued by relatives, only for him to do it a second time.

The unfortunate incident left Kipturgut village in Sotik Sub-county, in shock with residents saying that the young man was a bubbly individual.

According to Sotik Sub-County Police Commander Alex Shikondi, the body of the deceased was moved to Longisa County referral Hospital mortuary awaiting post-mortem, after which it will be released to the relatives for burial.

The KCSE national examinations are set to begin this week and run for three weeks.

The KCSE candidates have already begun taking some practical exams as they prepare to officially begin the tests.

On the other hand, Kenya Certificate of Primary Examination(KCPE) kicked off on Monday, March 22, and are set to end on Wednesday, March 24.
