KUPPET Suspends Teachers’ Strike Following Agreement with TSC

In a significant development, the Kenya Union of Post-Primary Education Teachers (KUPPET) has announced the suspension of its ongoing teachers’ strike. The decision comes after a tentative agreement was reached with the Teachers Service Commission (TSC).

Addressing the media, KUPPET Secretary General Akelo Misori stated that the strike was called off following productive negotiations with the TSC. Misori confirmed that, in light of a court order scheduled for September 5, Thursday, the union has decided to pause the strike to allow for further resolution of outstanding issues.

Misori urged all teachers affiliated with KUPPET to return to their classrooms while discussions continue. “In the ensuing arrangement and in compliance with the court order which is coming up on September 5, Thursday, from the union side, we suspend our strike and ask all our teachers to go back to class pending the speedy resolutions of these matters as already agreed upon between us and the commission,” Misori said.

This suspension aims to address the grievances raised by teachers and seeks to ensure a swift resolution to the issues at hand.
