August 2024 Teacher Salaries After Phase Two of the CBA
With the implementation of the second phase of the 2021-2025 Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA), teachers will see a revised net salary in their August 2024 paychecks. This adjustment reflects the total earnings after tax, including arrears from July 2024. Here’s a breakdown of the expected post-tax amounts for each job group:
- B5: Ksh 2,658
- C1: Ksh 3,768
- C2: Ksh 3,889
- C3: Ksh 2,995
- C4: Ksh 2,900
- C5: Ksh 2,103
- D1: Ksh 1,608
- D2: Ksh 3,843
The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has allocated Ksh 10.5 billion to fully realize these salary increases. Teachers can expect these payments to be deposited into their accounts starting today. In addition to the salary adjustments, TSC has processed and forwarded third-party deductions—such as insurance premiums and savings contributions—to the relevant organizations.
An important update includes an increase in the house allowance for certain job groups. The house allowance is categorized into four distinct clusters:
- Cluster 1: Nairobi City
- Cluster 2: Mombasa, Kisumu, Nakuru Cities, Nyeri, Eldoret, Thika, Kisii, Malindi, and Kitale municipalities
- Cluster 3: Other former municipalities
- Cluster 4: All other areas
This adjustment aims to better support teachers across various regions, recognizing the diverse cost of living associated with different locations.
