Education Cabinet Secretary Ezekiel Machogu who officially kick-started the distribution of this year’s KCPE and KPSEA examination papers in Mombasa assured the public that exams are secure in all 493 containers across the country.
“I want to assure you that there will no cheating, we will present a credible exam where integrity will not be compromised,” he said.
Rehearsals were done on Friday, with the ministry maintaining the integrity of the exam is intact. Stringent measures have been put in place to ensure the smooth administration of the exams.
This is the first time Grade Six candidates will be sitting a national exam after the introduction of the Competency-Based Curriculum in 2017.
The 1,287,597 grade six are sitting the Kenya Primary School Education Assessment (KPSEA) 2022 exams in readiness to proceed to junior secondary schools under the new education system.
1,244,188 class 8 candidates will sit for three papers; Mathematics, English language and composition while their KPSEA counterparts will take Mathematics and English Language.
Tuesday, KCPE candidates will have Science, Kiswahili and Insha papers while KPSEA candidates will sit their Integrated Science and Kiswahili papers.
Wednesday will the third and last day. The grade six learners will take Creative Arts and Social Studies whereas the class eight candidates will be sitting their Social Studies and Religious Education papers.
Several cabinet secretaries and other government officials in the education ministry supervised the distribution of the materials across the country.
