A candidate sitting for the Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) exams in Tharaka Constituency, Tharaka Nithi County has given birth.
The candidate welcomed her baby on Monday morning at the Marimanti Hospital before starting the Mathematics paper.
Area Education Director Salecio Maringe says the candidate will continue to write her exam from the hospital.
She’s among 2,147 candidates sitting for KCPE in Tharaka North sub-county.
The national exams kicked off on Monday morning, as over 2.5 million candidates will sit the KCPE and KPSEA exams countrywide.
Education officials and Cabinet Secretaries graced the morning cold on Monday to witness the opening of exam containers and distribution of materials across the country.
