A form three boy from Kobala Mixed Secondary School; Rachuonyo North Sub County who sustained serious injuries died at night while receiving medical attention at the Homa Bay County Referral Hospital.
Samson Ole Kinne, Homa Bay County Police Commander confirmed that the two passengers succumbed to serious injuries obtained during the accident.
The PSV Matatu they were traveling in was involved in a head-on-collision with a fuel tanker.
Eight people died on the spot-on Monday evening in the accident which occurred near Got Kokech/Ngengu trading center along Homa Bay – Kendu Bay Road

“Preliminary investigations revealed that the accident resulted from speeding and careless overtaking” Ole Kinne stated.
The ill-fated Nissan matatu driver was overtaking another Nissan matatu where the road is bending, making it difficult for him to notice the tanker..
Total casualties are eight males and two females including a class seven pupil at Janeiro Junior Academy and the form three boy from Kobala Mixed Secondary School in Rachuonyo North Sub County.
The police boss urged motorists to observe traffic rules.
The bodies have been preserved in Homa Bay County hospital mortuary as the wrecked vehicles were towed to Homa Bay Police Station
