The Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC)has given an update on the level of preparedness towards administering national exams to class eight and form four candidates.
In a statement, KNEC Chief Executive Officer, David Njeng’ere, instructed headteachers, teachers, parents, students, and other education stakeholders to check and confirm the registration details.
While verifying, the attention will be on the year of birth and gender, which must be the same as the details on the birth certificate which were used in the registration process
Choices for candidates seeking to join secondary schools must be correctly captured on the different categories. That is from county schools, extra-county schools, and even national schools level.

Meanwhile, candidates sitting for the Kenya Certificate for Secondary Education (KCSE) exams should have their names match with those in their Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) certificates.
The verification process must also ensure that subject choices for KCSE candidates are correct and conform to the grade award criteria as stipulated in the 2021 exams registration circular.
KCPE repeaters will need to verify to ensure that entries on their index numbers and codes are correct. Candidates’ pictures must also be counter-checked to ensure their match those in the KNEC album.
Parents with special needs kids should also ensure that the registration details are well captured.
In case of any discrepancies, parents, and teachers have been advised to send official communication to KNEC CEO before November 30 when the process will end.
