Kenya National Examination Council (KNEC) has released 2021 Registration Data that 1,225,693 candidates have registered for Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) in 2021, while this year 831,026 will give Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE).
Enrollments constitute a significant increase compared to the previous year’s candidate population
As compared to last year, 34,085 more candidates will appear for KCPE this year, which shows an increase of 2.86 per cent. As many as 1,191,608 candidates had registered for the 2020 KCPE.
The 2021 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Classes has seen a significant increase in enrollment compared to the previous year, with 78,424 more candidates taking the secondary examination, representing an increase of 10.42 per cent. 752,602 people registered for the 2020 KCSE final exam.
KNEC Chief Executive Officer Dr David Nzengere says that enough plans have been made to conduct the exam as per the government calendar.
With preparations for this year’s national examinations going well, the council has started training teachers to grade the examinations.
The training took place between October 3 and 9, and successful trainees will be added to the KNEC examiners’ database.
Primary school teachers were trained to be examiners for composition and insha papers, while secondary school teachers were trained to mark language, biology, chemistry, history and government, agriculture and Christian religious education.
The KCPE Exam will be held from 4th March to 9th March 2022.
The KCSE exam will be conducted from February 28 to April 1, 2022.
Twelve thousand, four hundred sixteen (12,416) candidates did not take the national exam, despite registering for KCPE 2020.
Despite taking admission in KCSE, 9,373 students did not take the exam.
