As we all know, much has been said about education like ‘education is the key to success.’ But did you know that not all capable or knowledgeable students can afford this education especially higher learning. That should not be a worry to you anymore because anyone with financial constraints can get a scholarship for further studies.
An easier way to get a scholarship in Kenya is through the ministry of health (MoE). The ministry provides scholarship for degree, masters and PhD programmes. Below is a list of the scholarships and requirements;
- Hungarian Government Scholarships
The Hungarian government provides fully sponsored scholarships for students that want to pursue bachelor’s degree programmes in Hungarian universities. It is open for those willing to pursue science degrees. The programme is available annually and covers: Tuition fees, Pocket money or subsistence cost, Accommodation and health insurance cost. - Queen Elizabeth Commonwealth Scholarships
The Queen Elizabeth Commonwealth Scholarships (QECS) are fully funded scholarships for Kenyan students who want to create a change in the society. Sponsorship is based on; social sciences, arts and humanities, mathematics, engineering, physical sciences and medicine and health.
Requirements are;
- Be a citizen or hold refugee status in a commonwealth country
- An applicant should possess an undergraduate degree
- Efficient in English language or prove your ability to speak the language
- Ashinaga Africa Initiative
The Ashinaga Africa Initiative (AAI) is an academic leadership organisation created to help African students to access international higher education. AAI caters to each successful applicant’s financial and academic support to study abroad and access career and mentoring guidance. Applications for this scholarship are done annually. The following are the requirements;
- If the applicant has lost both parents
- Must be a Kenyan student or of the select African countries
- The applicant should have completed secondary education and passed national or vocational training.
NB: Required documents include; national ID, death certificate or documentation proving death of parents, KCSE certificate, academic transcripts, birth certificate and term reports.
- Vienna School of International Studies
The Vienna School of International Studies offers German classes for learners of all levels, leisure activities, and research projects. It allows successful applicants learn more about Austrian culture, history, politics, and social practices. The college offers scholarship to those who want to pursue a one-year postgraduate course in the theory and practice of international relations.
- Scholarship for Masters & PhD in Embedded Mobile System
It is an annual award that aims to establish a demand-driven Master’s Degree Programme in Embedded and Mobile Systems. This programme covers tuition fees, monthly allowances, financial assistance, and rent assistance. Qualifying applicants will have the opportunity to study at the Nelson Mandela African Institution of Science and Technology.
The requirements are:
- Be a Kenyan nationality
- Hold a second-class Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical, Electronics, Engineering, Information Technology, Telecommunications Engineering or other related courses.
- Have at least a mean grade of “B” in relevant fields.
- Understand both spoken and written English
