The County Director of Education in Uasin Gishu, Gitonga Mbaka, earlier this month was insulted by Education CS George Magoha.
He has so far recorded a statement with the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC).
On Wednesday, November 18, the Director of Education is said to have stayed at the EACC offices for two hours.
The EACC officers were asked to visit Langas Primary School and establish its hygienic standards.
“I insisted to the EACC officers that we had to go to the Langas Primary and see the school. They were surprised to find out from the teachers that nothing had been done at the school regarding cleanliness since the day the CS left and yet it was still in a superb condition,” he said.
Confident Mbaka stated that various headteachers in the region had been visiting the school for benchmarking.
“I honoured the summons and made my statement as requested,” Mbaka said.
The EACC regional boss Japheth Baithalu said the issue is under investigation and declined to comment more on the matter.
Mbaka’s statement follows a video that attracted widespread outrage where Magoha was captured reprimanding the grey-haired senior citizen before dismissing him.
“If I say you are a fool would I be lying?” Magoha posed to the official.
The educationalist had earlier indicated that Magoha was satisfied by the school’s preparations to fight Covid-19, but his mood changed abruptly when the media showed up.
“The officials and I had taken the CS around the classrooms at Langas Primary School, and he was satisfied that there were enough desks, thermo guns and even water points for washing hands.
“There was, however, change after he saw the media, and turned the focus on me asking why the school was untidy,” he added.
