PRIVATE SCHOOLS REQUEST FOR FRESH KCPE AND KCSE REGISTRATION

Private schools across the country on Thursday, October 22, requested the government to allow the transfer of nominal rolls for pupils who have moved to new institutions.

Private school Bosses have raised a number of concerns over the fate of students whose parents relocated due to the negative impact of Covid-19.

The schools now wants the government to come out clean and address the issue to rescue KCSE and KCPE registered students to do the National exams in March..

Precious Bonanza Director Charles Ndirangu pleaded with the Ministry of Education to open a window for the transfer of nominal rolls.

“There are some that were not able to report back on the required date, others came back today. Some have not been able to return and the big question is whether they will be allowed to sit for the national exams” he said.

“There are schools that have permanently closed, most of the schools had candidates, where will they sit their national exams? I ask the Government to open nominal rolls transfer,” he further stated.

The Directors added that in order to ease the burden on students and teachers, the government should allow for fresh registration of national exams for the students who transferred.

However, KNEC had earlier ruled out the change of examination centres by candidates despite hardships posed by the Covid-19 pandemic.

This comes after Grade 4, Class 8 and Form 4 students reported back to school on Monday, October 12, with the government embarking on the phased reopening of learning institutions.
