Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has issued a clarification after an advert announcing its plan to hire 12,000 teacher interns went viral.
The advert, which was shared on Tuesday, October 20, indicated that the government was accepting 4,000 teaching applications for Primary level and 8,000 for Secondary.
The move was reportedly an economic stimulus plan to cushion the teaching fraternity after the sector suffered due to the harsh effects of the Covid-19 virus.
In a statement, however, TSC warned that the advert, which mimicked those run in newspapers before, was not factual explaining that official communication would only originate from the commission.
“We advise teachers and the general public to ignore a fake advert about 12,000 intern jobs that is circulating on social media.
“TSC will communicate through its official channels when new jobs arise,” read the statement in part.
