PARENTS HAVE TWO WEEKS TO PREPARE CHILDREN FOR FULL RESUMPTION

As Grade 4, Standard 8 and Form Four learners resume face-to-face learning today, Cabinet Secretary for Education Prof George Magoha has asked parents to prepare for reopening of schools for the rest of the learners in two weeks-time.

“The Ministry will observe the situation in one or two weeks, then we shall recall the other children,” said Prof Magoha while inspecting Olympic Primary School in Nairobi.

He, however, urged parents not to be worried about the safety of their children in school saying that the government has put everything in place to ensure safe environment for learners.

“Unless a child has a pre-existing condition, unnecessary school visits should be avoided,” said the CS.

Speaking during the visit, Magoha further advised management of schools to compile bio-data of all learners.

The CS also asked school heads not to send home learners because of school fees be it in private or public schools.

He further warned private school owners against discriminating learners who did not attend online classes saying that children will resume the syllabus from where they left in March when schools were closed to avert the spread of the virus.
