The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has reviewed the timeline for the recruitment of teachers.it further issued a reporting date for the new teachers.
TSC said that the recruited teachers will report to schools on Monday, January 4, 2021.
The new reporting date for the newly recruited teachers was set despite the date for reopening of primary and secondary schools remain unknown.
Recruitment of teachers started on Tuesday, September 1, after Teachers Service Commission gazette an advert on the recruitment process. It further gave direction on teachers to apply online.
TSC stated that the county selection process and filling of application for employment forms by successful candidates will be conducted between Thursday, October 8 and Wednesday, October 14.
Vetting and handling of complaints at the county level will be conducted for five days, between Thursday, October 15, and Thursday, October 22.
The Commission is optimistic that the recruitment of 11,000 teachers to public schools will enable the setting up of more classes to tackle congestion.
When the new teachers report, they will be tasked with developing personal timetables, preparation of schemes of work, working on the Teacher Performance Appraisal and Development (TPAD).
They will also be trained on psycho-social support systems to strengthen the guidance and counselling committee, while also ensuring students adhere to health protocols stipulated to curb the spread of Covid-19.
