MAGOHA OKAYS FINAL YEAR MEDICAL STUDENTS TO RESUME STUDIES

The CS for education Prof. George Magoha has allowed final year medical students to resume classes so that they can sit for their final exams.

The CS was open about the resumption where he stated that the move is aimed at increasing the number of medical practitioners needed to deal with the COVID 19 pandemic.

A letter seen by mubashara media group dated Monday, August 31, Magoha said the medical institutions will be subjected to physical inspection of facilities to make sure that they have complied with the COVID 19 pandemic protocols.

“Consideration has been given to the request for face-to face learning and assessment of medical students. This is further informed by a physical inspection of facilities to ascertain the level of preparedness for the resumption of face-to face learning,” read part of Prof. George Magoha’s letter.

Final year medical students from the college of health sciences will be required strictly adhere to COVID 19 guidelines while undertaking exams among them social distancing and high levels of hygiene.

All learners will be required to wear the necessary Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) after training on how they are used and worn.

“Universities must manage any suspected COVID 19 cases affecting their students in their isolation and quarantine facilities awaiting results. The decision of home-based care or hospital management must be in accordance with the Ministry of Health guidelines and protocols,” said the CS

He cautioned that, any institution that fails to adhere to the laid down Ministry of Health guidelines and protocols on COVID 19 shall trigger immediate closure.
