KENYAN UNIVERSITY CLEARED FOR RESUMPTION ON AUGUST 3

The Chuka University in Tharaka Nithi County will be the first public Kenyan university to be re-opened after learning institution closed amid CORONA Virus pandemic. Its now four months since all learning institution were closed. The reopening comes after the university was cleared by the Ministry of Education after meeting the requirements of safety of the learners .Among the main requirements met were:

  1. Maintenance of social distance in and outside the classrooms.
  2. Provision of hygiene products e.g. sanitizers, soaps and running water.
  3. Fumigation of university buildings and vehicles.
  4. Students temperatures to be taken before entering the classrooms.
  5. Creating awareness on the spread of CORONA Virus.
  6. Spreading out lessons to allow decongestion of classrooms.

The University Education and Research Principal Secretary Amb. Simon Nabukwesi confirmed the resume of academic sessions as from 3rd August 2020.He further clarified on the modality of class attendance. The first priority was given to the students pursuing (Masters PHD) in the final year who will resume first .Once the finalist students are done with their courses, they will create space for those reporting in September.
