SCHOOLS IN TANZANIA REOPEN AFTER COVID 19 OUTBREAK

Schools in Tanzania were fully reopened after the schools were closed due to corona virus pandemic. The schools in Tanzania were closed in March over the COVID 19 pandemic. The reopening of schools was a directive from the President of the Republic of Tanzania, Mr. John Pombe Magufuli when he made the announcement on 16th June 2020.

The Tanzanian government issued detailed new guidelines for schools, colleges and other educational institution as they fully reopen on 29th June 2020.

The new guidelines were laid out by the Tanzanian Health minister Ummi Mwalimu. Among them is that the students not to wear masks during physical exercise or any running and vigorous activities.

She further said, pupils below the age of eight and those with respiratory conditions like asthmatic, heart disease and sickle cell not to wear face masks.

The minister told the school administrators to ensure that schools are cleaned and have hand washing facilities. In addition she said students should not carry sanitizers to schools.

The parents were urged to buy face masks for their children and report any corona virus symptoms to the health authorities for testing. Regional health experts were instructed to carry out regular inspections in their respective areas and ensure all measures to fight the corona virus are put in place.
