The term of Dr. Nancy is set to end this year on 30th June 2020 having served for five good years. Her appointment was on 30th June 2015.The 9th Commission Secretary is still eligible for another second term in office for other five years. The following achievements makes her eligible for another term.
- RECRUITMENT OF TEACHERS. Dr. Nancy Njeri Macharia has seen Teacher Service Commission workforce rise from 180,000 when she took over to over 320,000 teachers.
- ABSEETIISIM IN SCHOOLS. She stopped the high level ABSEETIISIM of teachers in schools by introducing tools to check on teach0ers.
- THE FIRST EVER CBA. Signed between unions, and deposited in courts. It has, remained uninterrupted and fully implemented by TSC CEO Nancy Njeri upto date.
- STRIKES. Dr. Njeri has literally STOPPED the numerous teacher’s strikes that the UNIONSS were fond of subjecting the sector to. She actually has stabilized the sector.
- PROFESSIONALISM AND INDEPENDENCE. She brought professionalism in TSC in ensuring the independence of the commission. Right from a well-established TSC secretariat, to effective teaching in classrooms, we can say she has done well.
- PERFORMANCE CONTRACTING Dr. Njeri has INTRODUCED a professional performance tool TPAD to improve of teacher contact with learners and ensure syllabus coverage.
- MEDICAL COVER. Nancy Macharia Introduced a medical cover for the 319,000 teachers plus their spouses. MAKL AND MINET have ensured teachers lives and their spouses are saved.
- EXAM LEAKAGES. When Nancy took over KNEC exams, were sold in the streets by teachers from big schools. She has Stopped STEALING OF EXAMS by teachers.
- CAREER PROGRESSION GUIDELINES.Despite opposition and confusion from UNIONS, Nancy has put her feet down and Introduced CPGS to guide teachers in career progression. Promotions are right now done on Merit.
For sure Dr.Nancy Njeri Macharia has done more at Teachers Service Commission than any other Commission Secretary in history.My opinion, she deserves another term in office
