President John Pombe Magufuli has today ordered the Ministry of education Tanzania and all education stake holders to reopen both secondary and primary school on 29 June 2020.
Schools in Tanzania had been closed in March over the coronavirus Covid-19 pandemic.
The president made the announcement today 16 June 2020 while addressing the Parliament in Dodoma, saying, “Because of the reduced cases of coronavirus in the country, I would like to take this opportunity to announce the reopening of all remaining schools, and all social activities that were restricted like wedding celebrations should also resume” ‘life must go back to normal,’ He echoed
This Decision makes Tanzania the first East African country to open all schools and social gatherings.
The president, however, urged residents to observe hygiene and preventive measures of the corona virus Covid-19 pandemic as instructed by Tanzanian health authorities.
